My F&F AW13 Top 10: Grunge Goes Luxe

As you've probably gathered by now, F&F's 7 Days of Summer got me a tiny bit intoxicated by the unexpectedly heady delights of supermarket clothing, so my first sneaky peeks at their Autumn/Winter 2013 collection nearly necessitated the smelling salts! Alongside their staple casual, work and occasion wear, a whole new bunch of trend-led threads have got me drooling all over again...

This season's '90s grunge chic has had an Eliza Doolittle-style ladette-to-lady makeover, with punky tartan reworked in feminine shapes and fabrics, and a level of attention to detail (in the form of lace, velvet, pleather...) which lends the collection a really high-end feel. Having spent AW12 unsuccessfully seeking the perfect ladylike tartan piece, I for one am more than ready! Perfect layered up with one of their lush boho faux furs (loving the subtle ombre twist).

Pleather is back with a vengeance, making this semi-structured tee the perfect staple piece, whatever your style tribe - dress it down, punk it up or team with a midi for some film-noir elegance. As for the dungarees, this tailored palazzo-pinafore style is probably the most universally flattering and versatile you could find - go casual with a simple sweater/tee and flats, team with a pussybow blouse and heels for work, or rock a glitzy crop top and metallic wedges for a Studio 54-inspired night out look. Although I'm deeply in love with my peg leg versions, I may just be persuaded to give wide a shot!

Spring/Summer's stalwart colourways, monochrome and cobalt blue, also show continued good form, as does everyone's favourite AW12 shade, claret, in the shape of beautiful-but-practical outerwear and footwear which should keep us toasty and save our feet some pain!

You can preview the lookbook over on the Cosmopolitan website. What do you think of F&F's new collection? Will you be giving tartan a try?

    1. It is gorgeous, isn't it? So unusual - I loved how they styled it with the faux fur gilet for the catwalk show!
